London Marathon 2026- Cheer Team Member

What You'll Do: 

We'll have various cheer points along the London Marathon route. You'll be assigned one cheer point, and we'd really appreciate it if you could spare a few hours cheering on our runners. It really helps to keep their spirits high and helps them over the finish line! 

Cheer point volunteers will be:

  • Using provided cheer materials to make as much noise as possible and cheer on our runners.
  • Be part of the team creating a high-energy and encouraging environment for participants!

 

There is also the opportunity to be part of our finish line team. This involves meeting Alzheimer's Society runners at the London Marathon finish line and walking them over to our post-race reception. This is a lovely opportunity to speak to runners, congratulate them and be a really special part of their day.

The London Marathon is a day with a wonderful atmosphere. It's wonderful to see so many people turn up and attempt such an incredible challenge for an array of wonderful causes. 

 

All volunteers also get:

  • Regular contact with the event team in the weeks before the event.
  • An on the day contact who will greet you and support you!
  • A volunteer t-shirt.
  • Snacks and drinks while you volunteer.
  • The opportunity to meet like-minded people who are passionate about a world without dementia.
  • You’ll make a big impact to those who are taking part in an event and fundraising for Alzheimer's Society, by being there to support, cheer on and guide participants.
  • Feel a sense of pride as your support ensures an unforgettable experience - we can’t put on our events without the help of our volunteers.  
  • You’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills, develop existing ones, or share your expertise, all while connecting with others who may have shared experiences of dementia.
