Location: Based in The Glades shopping centre in Bromley. We are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so we aren’t specifically looking for support on those days in The Hub.
The Hub from Greener and Cleaner is looking for volunteers to help at our regular events. We are especially interested in anyone with skills in:
- Customer-facing roles
- Event planning
- Fundraising
We’ve created a supportive, judgement-free, and engaging experience for visitors in our Hub where they can find out about climate change and what they can do about it. This is supported by an extensive events programme. Your role is central to providing a great experience at events for all our visitors in a diverse community.
You’ll be part of our pilot project which, if successful, will see versions of The Hub rolled out across the UK, providing a blueprint for others to be shared and upscaled.
This is about engagement and encouragement: about trying and learning. We want to make people feel that whatever they can do helps. By attending events and learning new skills, this is all part of the small everyday changes they can make to help fight climate change. Your role will be central to the event experience.
No past experience or in-depth knowledge of sustainable living or community support is required. Job training and Carbon Literacy training is provided to all volunteers, and there will be a host of other information you will have access to, such as the most common questions, concerns, and materials that we and other sustainability groups have created. You will be supported by a network of people who share a passion for all things green.
Someone with great communication skills who likes to approach and meet new people, ideally with a background in any of the following:
- Customer-facing roles
- Event planning
- Fundraising
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing role in a diverse community
A team player. We’re mostly all part-time and/or volunteers relying on, and supporting each other, in our various roles. We’re a very friendly bunch and warmly welcome new people on the team.
If you have some experience with social media, this would also be beneficial to the role but not essential.
