What is the Big Help Out?
The Big Help Out is an annual, nationwide community event that is open to all. The objective of The Big Help Out is to raise awareness of volunteering throughout the UK and to provide opportunities for people to experience volunteering and support their local communities. This year it is taking place from Friday 7th June to Sunday 9th June, but lots of charities are running events outside of these dates too.
To get stuck in, you’ll need to make an account on the Do It platform. Once you’ve done that, you can browse all the volunteering events going on and sign up to shifts. Sign up here.
If you’re a staff member, you can use one of your two allocated days of Volunteering Leave to volunteer for any of the activities happening during the week. For a full walkthrough on how to do this, see this page on the City StaffHub.

Visit a person at home and befriend them, offering communication support, and a fresh perspective from their daily routine. The person you visit will have aphasia, a communication disability, often stuck at home without support.
